*please choose one passage from the novel that is significant to you. why is this passage meaningful? please type it into one of your entries and comnment on what you think about the passage.
In this novel, Fahrenheit 451 there are numerous passages that were significant to me, however if I were to choose the only one passage from the novel, I would choose the passage what Captain Beatty was talking to Montag in his house.
"We must all be alike. Not everyone born free and equal. as the constitution says, but everyone made equal.. A book is a loaded gun in the house next door. Burn it. Take the shot from the weapon. Breach man's mind."
This passage made me so confused with Captain Beatty, because he meant all the people should be equal/same but later on Captain Beatty mentioned that "A book is a loaded gun in the house next door. Burn it. Take the shot from the weapon" and Captain Beatty is the most ironic character in this novel. However, this passage is significant to me in many different ways, because Captain Beatty was trying to say that entire the human were born equal so reading a book makes some people intelligent but some who do not read books becomes not so intelligent. And people become not equal but all diffrent. Therefore, Beatty is mentioning that a book is a loaded gun in the house next door. I agree with how he described that people made equal, but I do not agree with that book is a loaded gun. However, I think lack of knowledge is a loaded gun in the world.
